The receiver and transmitter have to match. Falcon receivers track Falcon wideband transmitters, Eclipse transmitters work with Eclipse systems only, and the regional number on the receiver's startup screen must match the one stamped on the transmitter. Buyer questions
- Which DigiTrak Falcon receiver do I need?
- It depends on your bores and your job sites. The Falcon F1 replaced the DigiTrak SE and is built for short, shallow bores, with a single band from 9.0 to 13.5 kHz. The F2 measures job-site noise and lets you run two optimized frequency bands, for deeper bores in noisy areas. The F5 adds sub-k frequencies to the wideband range, so you can pick the two best bands on sites with heavy active or passive interference.
- Will this transmitter work with my receiver?
- Check two things: the system and the region. Falcon receivers track Falcon wideband transmitters, and Eclipse transmitters work with Eclipse systems only. The regional designation number on the receiver's startup screen must match the number stamped on the transmitter. Send us your receiver model and that number and we will confirm compatibility before you order.
- What is a sub-k transmitter for?
- Sub-k transmitters, such as the Falcon F5 FTR5 series, add very low frequencies (0.33 to 0.75 kHz) to the usual 4.5 to 45 kHz range. That gives the receiver more options on sites where interference blocks the standard bands. They come in 8, 15 and 19-inch lengths.
- Do I need a remote display at the drill?
- The receiver sends depth, pitch, roll, temperature and battery data to a remote display at the rig, so the operator steers from live readings. We stock Aurora 8-inch and 10-inch touchscreen displays and the smaller Falcon Compact Display, sold alone or as part of a complete system.
- Can I monitor pullback force and drilling fluid pressure?
- Yes. The TensiTrak kit records pullback force with a 100,000 lb unit, and the DigiTrak F5 fluid pressure transmitter monitors downhole fluid pressure up to 250 psi. Both are in stock and listed with their full kit contents.
