Second, one-piece forged is not an OEM exclusive; several aftermarket sellers list one-piece forged S135 rod. So the real tiers are quality-of-manufacture tiers, not OEM-versus-aftermarket tiers.
Vermeer proved that point from inside its own catalog: the Silver Series is Vermeer's lower-cost rod line under Firestick, built from S135 rather than V145 but with the same column wall thickness, threaded in the same facility, and subject to the same inspection process, positioned by Vermeer itself as a close second in performance. The thread you cannot see
Why does no-name pipe that "fits" still fail? Often at the thread root. How long rods last, and when to replace
Replacement is condition-triggered, not hours-triggered; the industry guidance is explicit that HDD tooling has no fixed service intervals, and ground conditions dominate: abrasive sand can wear a string faster than harder rock, so two identical meters mean nothing across two different territories.
